Dr. John W. Lucas II Memorial Page
1936-2025

Hello Dear Christian Family, in Canada and Internationally,

I am writing with bittersweetness and with mixed emotions to announce the news that many of you may have already heard by personal text or phone call.

Our much beloved Dr. John W. Lucas II left this world on the night of April 14th at 10:30 pm with his dearest family members at his side. It was an answer to prayer that the Lord delayed his exit until his children and grandchildren could gather from around the globe from Hong Kong, London England and Oklahoma.

News is now spreading of this enormous loss to many globally faster than a prairie grass fire, yet it may land on some of you in a way that startles. Many of us will recall his oft-used phrase of saying at the passing of a saint that "heaven has gained an added attraction", and we are glad for both his sake and ours that is now true of himself. If you thought he would live forever, may I only say that is indeed that is the case for Jesus promised the one who believes in Him will never die. Yet the temporary dwelling for the last 89+ years has been vacated and he is now present with the Lord. The familiar words of 1 Thessalonians 4:13 - 18 provide certain comfort to the sorrow we now share, unlike those without hope.

Please remember John's widow Doris in your prayers along with the entire Lucas family. Much will be said as fitting tributes at the two memorial tribute services segments of which will be available here in the near future:

In loving memory, memorial financial missionary gifts may be made to: Maranatha Evangelistic Association, PO Box 1292 Station M, Calgary, AB, T2P 2L2, www.meaworldwide.org. Telephone: 1-877-632-7770,
Your tributes and memories are also welcomed and may also be shared with the family by emailing "john.lucas@meaworldwide.org".

He was the longest serving (active) clergyperson in the city of Calgary, and as such
Pastor Lucas has fought the good fight, finished his course, kept the faith. May we all finish as triumphantly.

Sincerely,

Pastor George Bradley, Friend to the Lucas family.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
"We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, concerning those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve like the rest, who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, in the same way, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. For we say this to you by a word from the Lord: We who are still alive at the Lord's coming will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the archangel's voice, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are still alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words".
